Laser Spa Group Courses have been designed to prepare the graduating student for the medical based aesthetic market. Courses are offered in Laser Hair Removal, and have been designed for those students with the appropriate pre-requisites, including aestheticians, electrologists, other laser system operators, nurses, cosmetologists, medical personnel/assistants and physicians. Laser Spa Group is operated under the supervision of Bozana Skojo, MS, CLS, who has been specializing in laser hair removal procedures for 10 years, and an experienced aesthetician for 15 years.

For medical based aestheticians, certification in Laser Hair Removal is important for the following reasons:

• The Spa and Medical market may require certification or some experience for employment
• To demonstrate a standard level of knowledge and competency equal to or greater than others in your field
• To also demonstrate that you are interested in maintaining higher standards in the field of Laser Hair Removal as a professional and industry expert
• To effectively limit the liability of employers

Certification and training is a method to elevate your status and legitimacy amongst your peers and future employers, and to also demonstrate competency with potential and existing government regulatory agencies. Some U.S. states and some insurance companies are requiring courses of 30-50 hours to perform procedures.

Overview:

Our 2 Laser Training Programs -  12 Hour Introduction to Laser Training and Safety Program and our 12 Hour Advanced Hands-On Laser Training will give an introduction and overview of how Lasers and IPLs work,
including the physics of Lasers and IPLs. We will discuss the most commonly used dermatologic Lasers and their parameters. An overview of skin and hair, parameters for permanent hair reduction will be discussed and presented. The lecture will include Laser skin interaction, skin typing, operational and treatment safety measures
including ANSI, and the Laser Safety Officer. We will discuss the management and treatment of adverse events. We will discuss the benefits, expected results and outcomes, and available alternative treatments. Focus on patient consultation, selection and education, contraindications and precautions, safety and efficacy issues, as well as hands-on practical experience.

For 2012 we have added Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peel Training.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to;

• Describe the mechanism of action of Lasers
• Discuss the patient selection process and indications and applications for use
• Describe the benefits, expectations, and results associated with treatments
• Discuss the contraindications, precautions and safety issues
• Discuss and demonstrate proper techniques for application and operation of the Laser
• Describe measures to minimize complications and sub-optional results
• Demonstrate proper management and treatment of complications

Students will receive a course manual, marketing tools, necessary supporting forms and templates on disc such as history, consent and policy/procedure.
